September 9, 2009
In a move to be better suited for long shaft work pieces, Acme Industries has added a brand new Mori Seiki SL-403B. This horizontal lathe comes equipped with a 24” chuck, capable of turning up to 36.8” diameter parts. The real attribute of this machine is its ability to handle long work pieces up to 81.4” in length. Long work pieces can be held in the chuck or can be long pieces of bar stock that come through the spindle. It is able to handle bar stock up to 7.3” diameter through the spindle. Other attributes include a 40 H.P. spindle motor that can achieve 1500 RPM and a 12 tool automatic tool changer.
The new machine adds to Acme’s arsenal of large, precision equipment to meet the demands from today’s marketplace. Serving the large engine, transmission and drive train, locomotive and oil & gas markets, Acme’s position as a leader in the precision machining marketplace will be bolstered by the additional capacity.
